The dog across the hall barks all afternoon, every afternoon; at what, I don’t know—nothing at all. It's easy to think the dog is kind of stupid or neurotic or anxious; dumb. But then again, many of the urbanites I know spend most of their days ‘barking’ at social media feeds—pent up, bored, restless human animals.
It's much harder than tech companies will admit to create a technology that's better than a book, or holding someone's hand, or going to the movies, or a long phone call, or reading a letter, or just doing nothing. Truly doing nothing is a better technology than the than Apple Vision Pro.
Techno-futurism is just a choice about how the world should be (a stupid choice). It's a kind of religion, and a childish, naive, hunger for the new at the cost of everything, soulful, real, God-given (or at least crafted by man in God’s image).
