Distraction is the religion of the future—never to have to think, feel, contemplate: a perpetual mental motion machine. It is the religion of the present too. The mind disperses itself, dissolves itself in a bath of blue light. ‘Mindfulness’ is actually part of the church experience; a ritual reminder of what has been sacrificed. Mindfulness is the Eucharist: the broken pieces of the body and blood of the sacred Mind distributed.
Hedonism and religious devotion are self-consistent; I would vouch for either one. Guilty hedonism tinged with a longing for religion makes no sense.
Emotion is a tool, not a truth. It should be used, not use.
