If you think about it, the financial crisis in 2008 and the subsequent Great Recession was powered by an inflationary and utopian desire to make everyone a homeowner and to re-found the post-industrial American economy (the economy that was simultaneously experiencing the final shock of post-industrialism as a result of China's joining the WTO).
