There are too many pretend artists. And the truth is, the mediocre artists should quit and support the great artists. There should be more incentives for them to do so.
A simple solution to government. Legislators and executives get ten times their salaries if the balance is budgeted. If the budget is balanced, and they're allowed to run for office only if there's no current military conflict. If there's war, they can't run for re-election.
It's occurred to me that work from home, which in hindsight was a social movement that began, was instigated by, COVID, but transcended COVID, has deep historical roots in—and this is going to sound like a stretch—in the transition from medieval cottage craft to the factory system (from the time when workers were coerced out of working their handcrafts at home to working in the giant assemblage machine known as the factory). There might be something about the office and the factory, the scale that modernity has implemented them, that capitalism has implemented them, on. Inherently, people want to work on a small scale, close to home.
More than we realize—civilization turns on the question of immortality; that is to say, civilizations turn on the question of whether there is an eternal life or eternal life is achievable, or whether it all ends.
Transhumanist ideas haven't been mainstreamed quite yet, but they're beginning to (almost like Christianity in the 2nd century AD).
Humans, humanists are beginning to imagine a world in which life is partially, indefinitely or permanently extended, and in the most extreme cases, somehow merged with or uploaded onto an immortal piece of computer hardware.
