Tragedy began as sung verse. It evolved into spoken verse. It evolved into spoken prose. In the future, it might be ideogrammatic without speech at all. The long arc of tragedy might be from singing to direct input of imagery into the brain.
The rise of AI will do more good for human beings than the last era of digital technology, because it will provoke us to wake up. It's competition, unlike TV or phones, which just put us to sleep. The existential threat of AI is good.
